Unfortunately, broken, cracked, or irreparable windshields need to be replaced!

Modern windshields are always attached to the car’s body using adhesive. Replacing them requires expertise, as well as a solid understanding of physics and the necessary technical background. Additionally, the cameras of the driver assistance ADAS system, which are mounted on the windshield, as well as the rain, light, and other sensors, must undergo diagnostic checks before replacement and thorough inspection and calibration afterward. A written report is always issued in every case.

The average turnaround time for a windshield replacement, depending on the equipment and the size of the glass, typically takes 3-5 hours for passenger cars. For trucks and buses, the procedure may take significantly longer. Pilkington uses SIKA adhesive technology systems, ensuring a short and safe workshop departure time.

  • Can the exchange be carried out on a car that is under repair?

In some cases, yes, but it is not advisable to lift or place the car on a shaker with a freshly glued windshield.

  • “Can precipitation cause harm immediately after the replacement?”

As long as the vehicle is used after waiting for the safe workshop release time, direct precipitation should not pose a problem.

  • Why isn’t a carport that only covers the front of the vehicle sufficient?

The covered area must be large enough to ensure that no part of the vehicle is exposed to direct or scattered precipitation, as during procedures such as bonding, neither the bodywork nor the glass may come into contact with moisture. Additionally, the doors must be able to open fully, and the conditions must meet the requirements necessary for proper and professional workmanship.

  • Can all types of work be performed within the framework of mobile service?

Not all tasks can be performed through mobile service; there are certain jobs of such complexity or seriousness that they can only be carried out under workshop conditions.
